The Bodhgaya Temple Management Committee (BTMC) celebrated the 77th Republic Day of India with great enthusiasm and patriotic spirit at the BTMC Office, Bodhgaya, on 26 January 2026.























The National Flag was ceremonially hoisted by Dr. Mahashweta Maharathi, Secretary, BTMC, in the presence of BTMC Members, office staff, monks from various monasteries, and other dignitaries. In her address, the member secretary recalled the progress the nation has made in its 77 year journey of India’s republic. She said, “ from making salt to Chandrayan; from green to white revolution; from education to digitalization, india has made great strides and made overall development.” She recalled that the republican system evolved not in Greece but in Vaishali during the time of Buddha and Licchavis. She also referred to the relic stupa, which was built at the initiative of the CM Nitish Kumar, which houses one-eight of the Buddha relics, kept in Patna Museum for 78yeard. She encouraged the youth to stand and work unitedly for making the country ever so strong and developed. She recalled Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar’s contribution for writing of the constitution. The occasion reflected unity, respect for the Constitution, and the spirit of national pride.
During the flag hoisting ceremony, security personnel rendered the ceremonial salute, followed by the singing of the National Anthem, which was beautifully rendered by school students, adding solemnity to the event.
