INC Leader Rahul Gandhi Visits Mahabodhi Temple During Gaya Visit

Mr. Rahul Rajiv Gandhi a Member of the Indian National Congress (INC), and currently serving as the 12th leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha and as the Member of the Lok Sabha for Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh, since June 2024 during his visit to Gaya this morning also visited the Mahabodhi Temple June 06, 2025 at 5:30 pm.

On his arrival he was warmly received by the Chief Monk of the Mahabodhi Temple, Ven. Bhikkhu Chalinda alongwith Ven. Bhikkhu Dr. Manoj and other Resident Monks of the Mahabodhi Temple. Joining in recieving Mr. Rahul Gandhi were BTMC Members Dr. Arvind Singh & Mr. Kiran Lama.

Mr. Rahul Gandhi visited the main shrine of the Mahabodhi Temple, offered Robes, flowers and lighted lamps and incense. The Venerable Monks chanted Sutras invoking the Blessings of the Buddha on him for his well-being. He circumambulated the Mahabodhi Temple once and offered prayers under the sacred Bodhi Tree and the Vajrasana amidst chanting of the Venerable Monks.

After signing the Visitor’s Book, Mementos including a replica of the Mahabodhi Temple, laminated Bodhi Leaf, the Annual publication of BTMC – PRAJNA and other recent publications were presented to Mr. Rahul Gandhi.

Mr. Gandhi expressed his happiness for visiting the inspiring and historical site. Also remarked that Truth and non-violence are powerful principles handed down by the Buddha.
