Scientists from the Forest Research Institute, Dehradun arrived in Bodhgaya on Wednesday the 24th September, 2025 for the Routine Check-up of the Bodhi Tree in the premises of the Mahabodhi Temple, Buddhagaya.









On Thursday 25th September 2025 they visited the Mahabodhi Temple and carried out the inspection works in and around the Bodhi Tree and from the upper floor of the Mahabodhi Temple. They reported that they did not find any problem of the Bodhi Tree. As for precautionary measures a mild treatment was administered on the Tree. They also reported that the Bodhi Tree was in excellent health, the foliage very healthy and the leaves green with no any sign of stress.
Discussions for providing Brass pillars for support to the extended branches of the Bodhi Tree and Wooden Shade over the Bodhi Tree for the safety of the visiting Devotees under the Bodhi Tree and the pruning of dead branches.
Accompanying the Scientists were the Chief Monk, Ven. Bhikkhu Chalinda, Caretaker Monk, Ven. Bhikkhu Dinanand, Ven. Dr. Manoj, Ven. Kaundaniya, Ven. Nima Lama alongwith Dr. Mahashweta Maharathi, Secretary, BTMC, Members Dr. Arvind Kumar Singh and Mr. Kiran Lama.
On the 27th September, 2025 the Scientists will proceed to Patna to inspect the Bodhi Trees planted at Buddhagaya Smriti Park, Vidhan Sabha and the Chief Minister of Bihar’s residence.
