FRI Scientists Apply Organic Neem Spray and Declare the Sacred Bodhi Tree Healthy

On the second day of the visit of the FRI scientists from Dehradun, a neem-based organic spray was applied to the branches and trunk of the Holy Bodhi Tree to prevent possible insect attacks from neighboring trees. After conducting a thorough examination, the scientists — Dr. Shailesh Pandey and Dr. Santan Bharthawal — declared that the Holy Bodhi Tree is free from any serious pathogens or insect pest infestation. Few branches of the neighbouring tree were removed with utmost care in order to prevent pathogens and insect attack and proper aeration.

The three-hour-long procedure of careful examination followed by the spraying was carried out in the presence of the scientists, the Secretary, BTMC, Dr. Mahashweta Maharathi; Member, BTMC, Dr. Arvind Kumar Singh; and BTMC monks, Bhikkhu Deenanand and Bhikkhu Dr. Manoj.
