A 13-member Royal Thai Delegation, led by H.E. Ms. Sasirit Tangulrat, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, visited the sacred Mahabodhi Mahavihara Temple in Bodhgaya on the evening of October 10, 2025. The visit underscored the deep spiritual and cultural connections between Thailand and India, centered around shared Buddhist heritage.
Upon arrival, the delegation was warmly welcomed with traditional khada scarves by Dr. Mahasweta Maharathi, Secretary of the Bodhgaya Temple Management Committee (BTMC), and Bhikkhu Dr. Manoj. The group toured the entire temple complex, offering prayers to Lord Buddha inside the main shrine and paying homage to the Holy Bodhi Tree, the site of the Buddha’s enlightenment.
The temple monks invoked blessings through the chanting of sacred mantras, creating a serene and reverent atmosphere. In a gesture of environmental stewardship and goodwill, members of the Thai Delegation actively participated in a flower planting drive within the temple premises, led by H.E. Ms. Sasirit Tangulrat herself.
Expressing their profound joy at the experience, the Royal Thai Delegation conveyed their extreme happiness to Dr. Mahasweta Maharathi and Bhikkhu Dr. Manoj, highlighting the spiritual significance of the site and the warm hospitality extended by the temple authorities.
This visit further strengthens the bilateral relations between Thailand and India, promoting mutual understanding and cooperation in preserving Buddhist landmarks of global importance.
