Ten-Day Dzongsar Monlam Chenmo Commences Under the Sacred Bodhi Tree

A ten day long Dzongsar Monlam Chenmo began today at the Mahabodhi Temple, beneath the sacred Bodhi Tree, the hallowed site of Lord Buddha’s Enlightenment and the spiritual heart of the Buddhist world.

The sacred prayer gathering will be held from 18 to 28 November 2025, under the guidance and blessings of Most Venerable Dzongsar Khyentse Jamyang Norbu Rinpoche, the Root Guru of this Monlam.

Monlam, meaning “The Path of Aspiration,” is a profound tradition wherein the Sangha and devotees join in collective prayers for the welfare of all beings. Rooted in the Buddha’s timeless teachings of compassion, wisdom, and universal responsibility, the Dzongsar Monlam Chenmo aspires to generate vast merit, dispel suffering, and cultivate harmony in the world.

In keeping with this sacred purpose, the event is expected to bring together around 1500 monks and nuns from monasteries in India and Bhutan, along with about 800 lay practitioners and followers, who will unite their prayers and aspirations for global peace and the well-being of all humanity.
