His Excellency Shri Indra Sena Reddy Nallu, Hon’ble Governor of Tripura, accompanied by Smt. N. Renuka, First Lady of Tripura, made a reverential evening visit to the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Mahabodhi Mahavihara Temple Complex in Bodh Gaya — the hallowed place where Lord Buddha attained Supreme Enlightenment under the sacred Bodhi Tree.

Upon arrival, the Hon’ble Governor and the First Lady were warmly welcomed with traditional khadas (ceremonial scarves) by Dr. Mahasweta Maharathi, Member Secretary, Bodh Gaya Temple Management Committee (BTMC); Bhikkhu Chalinda, Chief Monk; Bhikkhu Dr. Deenanand; and Dr. Arvind Kumar Singh, Member of BTMC.

The distinguished visitors offered prayers with profound devotion to Lord Buddha at the main shrine and under the holy Bodhi Tree, the direct descendant of the tree beneath which Siddhartha Gautama realized enlightenment over 2,500 years ago. Monks present bestowed blessings upon them through the sacred chanting of mantras, filling the atmosphere with peace, serenity, and spiritual resonance.

Concluding the visit, Dr. Mahasweta Maharathi presented special mementos to His Excellency the Governor and the First Lady on behalf of the BTMC. The mementos included:

Replica of Mahabodhi Mahavihar Temple, A Holy Bodhi Leaf, An Art Portfolio featuring exquisite paintings on Buddhist themes by the renowned Buddhist artist Upendra Maharathi, A Pictorial Documentation of the Mahabodhi Mahavihara Temple Complex, A book on the Holy Bodhi Tree.

His Excellency Shri Indra Sena Reddy Nallu also graciously signed the Visitors’ Book, recording his deep respect and admiration for this universal symbol of peace, compassion, and enlightenment.
