It is with our deepest sorrow and heartfelt reverence that the Bodhgaya Temple Management Committee (BTMC) expresses profound condolences on the passing of
The Most Venerable Dr. Bhaddanta Ñāṇissara, the world-renowned missionary, revered Dhamma teacher, and eminent Buddhist scholar of great wisdom and compassion.

The Most Venerable Sayadaw resided at the Kusinara Myanmar Monastery, Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh, India, where he dedicated his life to the propagation of the Buddha-Dhamma and to the selfless service of the Sangha and devotees at the sacred site of the Lord Buddha’s Mahāparinibbāna.
From 1998 to 2017, the Most Venerable Sayadaw served as a distinguished Member of the Bodhgaya Temple Management Committee, contributing immensely to the preservation and promotion of the Mahabodhi Mahāvihāra and the Dhamma heritage of Bodhgaya.
In his passing, the global Buddhist community has lost a luminous torchbearer of the Dhamma — a noble disciple who lived and taught the essence of the Blessed One’s Path with unwavering faith, wisdom, and compassion.
The Bodhgaya Temple Management Committee joins the Sangha, devotees, and followers across the world in paying homage to the late Sayadaw.
May his noble spirit find eternal peace and attain the Supreme Bliss of Nibbāna.
