On the occasion of the 2568th Buddha Jayanti Celebrations – 3 days’ Free 2 (two) Bus Services from Gaya Railway Station to Bodhgaya and return to Gaya Railway Station was flagged off this morning by the Chief Monk Bhikkhu Chalinda & Caretaker Monk Bhikkhu Dinanand of the Mahabodhi Mahavihara Temple alongwith Dr. Mahashweta Maharathi, Secretary, BTMC, Dr. Arvind Singh and Mr. Kiran Lama, Members, BTMC. It is for the convenience of the Pilgrims arriving to Buddhagaya to participate in the Buddha Jayanti Celebrations.
A free 3-days Medical Camp along with free 3-days Cool Drinking Water, chana and water melon was also inaugurated in front of the BTMC Office.
Upasika Ms. Papachosrn, Sponsor for this year’s Buddha Purnima alongwith her Delegation from Phuket, Thailand joined in the Inauguration Ceremony.
Later on the Hon’ble Consul General of Thailand in Kolkata Ms. Siriporn Tantiyathep visited the Mahabodhi Mahavihara Temple and offered Kheer (Milk Rice pudding) in the main sanctum Sanctorum of the Mahabodhi Mahavihara alongwith Dr. Mahashweta Maharathi, Secretary, BTMC. The Hon’ble Consul General will participate as the Guest of Honour at the 2568th Buddha Purnima Celebrations on 23rd May, 2024 organised by BTMC. The Hon’ble Governor of Bihar, Mr. Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar will be the Chief Guest at the Buddha Jayanti Celebrations.
The days Celebration will start with a grand procession joined by all the Monasteries, Temples and School children from the 80ft Great Buddha Statue at 7 am on May 23rd, 2024 and reach the Mahabodhi Mahavihara by 8 am.
A large number of Buddhist Devotees from all over the country have arrived and are expected to arrive by this evening to participate in the Celebrations. Arrangements for food and accommodation has been arranged at the Kalachakra Grounds by the BTMC.
