Gyan Yatra Organized under Bodh Mahotsav–2026 Concludes Successfully in Bodh Gaya

As part of Bodh Mahotsav – 2026, a Gyan Yatra was successfully organized on 21 January 2026, witnessing enthusiastic participation from Buddhist monks, eminent dignitaries, and devotees from India and abroad. The programme was organized by the District Administration, Gaya, in coordination with the Bodhgaya Temple Management Committee (BTMC).

A total of six buses were arranged to facilitate the movement of participants—two buses from the BTMC Office, two from Magadh University, and one each from the Mahabodhi Meditation Centre (MMC) and Burmese Vihar, Bodhgaya.

Approximately 300 monks, along with a large number of devotees and dignitaries, participated in the Yatra. Prominent among them were Dr. Mahashweta Maharathi, Dr. Arvind Kumar Singh, Bhikkhu Chalinda, Bhikkhu Dr. Manoj, Archan Nippon, members of the Vietnamese Cultural Group, and several other foreign and local participants.

Participants assembled at the BTMC Office at 5:30 AM, and buses departed for Dungeshwari at 6:00 AM. Upon arrival, the programme included refreshments, chanting by venerable monks, a speech by the Chief Guest Mr. Ravishankar Sharma, ADM (Deptt. Inquiry) and Mr. Suraj Kumar, IAS Probationer addressed the gathering and flag hoisting at the sacred Dungeshwari Cave.

Subsequently, the participants undertook a pilgrimage walk of approximately 8 kilometers from Dungeshwari to Sujata Garh, symbolizing devotion, discipline, and reverence for the rich Buddhist heritage. The Yatra then proceeded to the Mahabodhi Temple, followed by lunch for monks at the BTMC Office Campus.

The Gyan Yatra was conducted peacefully and successfully, reflecting the spirit of harmony, cultural unity, and Buddhist values.
