Royal Noble Consort of Thailand Pays Reverential Visit to Mahabodhi Temple, Bodhgaya

The Bodhgaya Temple Management Committee (BTMC) is honoured to inform that Royal Noble Consort, Chaokhun Phra Sineenatha Bilasakalyani, visited the Mahabodhi Temple, Bodhgaya, during her stay from 21 January to 26 January 2026.

The visit of the Royal Noble Consort held deep spiritual significance and reaffirmed the age-old cultural and religious ties between India and Thailand, rooted in the shared Buddhist heritage. During her visit, the Royal Noble Consort offered prayers at the Sanctum Sanctorum (Garbh Grih) and under the Holy Bodhi Tree, and participated in chanting and meditation sessions conducted by senior monks of BTMC.

The Royal Noble Consort was formally received by Dr. Mahashweta Maharathi, Secretary, BTMC; Dr. Arvind Kumar Singh, Member, BTMC; Bhikkhu Chalinda, Chief Monk of the Mahabodhi Temple; Bhikkhu Dr. Deenanand, Caretaker Monk; and Bhikkhu Dr. Manoj, Senior Monk, along with other officials of BTMC and the district administration, Gaya. Special prayer ceremonies, chanting, and flower offerings were organised as part of the visit.

Within the Sanctum Sanctorum, BTMC members and venerable monks presented the Royal Noble Consort with commemorative mementos and sacred Bodhi leaves as a mark of respect and goodwill. The mementos were specially crafted by local artisans, reflecting the region’s traditional craftsmanship.

The Bodhgaya Temple Management Committee expressed its deep gratitude for the visit of the Royal Noble Consort and described it as a moment of pride and spiritual inspiration for devotees and Buddhists across the world.
