Royal Thai Government Delegation Visits Mahabodhi Mahavihara, Strengthening Spiritual Ties

A distinguished 10-member Royal Thai Government delegation, led by Mrs. Yupha Taweewattanakitborwon, Permanent Secretary of the Office of the Prime Minister, visited the sacred Mahabodhi Mahavihara, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, today. The delegation was warmly welcomed with traditional Khada scarves by Dr. Mahasweta Maharathi, Secretary of the Bodhgaya Temple Management Committee (BTMC), Bhikkhu Chalinda, Chief Monk, and Bhikkhu Deenanand.

During their visit, the delegation entered the inner shrine of the Mahabodhi Mahavihara, where monks performed sacred mantra chanting to invoke blessings. The group also attended a significant ordination ceremony for 200 Thai individuals held under the revered Bodhi Tree, a symbol of enlightenment and spiritual awakening.

During the visit, the Bodhgaya Temple Management Committee presented mementos to Mrs. Yupha Taweewattanakitborwon and the delegation as a gesture of goodwill and appreciation. The visit highlights the deep cultural and spiritual ties between Thailand and India, fostering mutual respect and collaboration.
